Michael works for WPP, the Creative Transformation Company as the Global Head of Talent Acquisition Innovation and Operations. In his previous role leading the Talent function at GroupM, he oversaw the work of a team of 200+ recruiters delivering more than 13,500 hires across 80 countries.

He lives in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York and works from the 3 World Trade Center (probably the best real estate on the planet)

Michael spent most of the 000’s in Asia, where he was formerly known as a “Yue Lao” (月下老人) or “Old Man of the Moonlight” – a legendary match-maker and fate-weaver from the Tang Dynasty. Before corporate recruiting he founded and grew a search firm specializing in the tech and telecoms industries from 2001 through 2011.

Michael has been a regular speaker on the global talent acquisition circuit, with experience at HR Tech EU and US, and his recent speaking assignments included the Social Recruiting Strategies Conference in San Francisco, where he gave the closing keynote, and at HCI’s Strategic Talent Acquisition Conference in Denver where his team picked up an award for Innovative Recruiting Practices. Michael firmly believes that if he spends enough time around talented people, he’ll eventually become talented himself. He describes his new job at WPP with a grin as “wish fulfilment” and said something about breaking things.
